Belkin Skype wi-fi phone (F1PP000GN-SK) receives new firmware update!

caution: There is a newer post than this here!

The Belkin Skype wi-fi phone (F1PP000GN-SK) has received a firmware update: download firmware version 1.1.0.22.

It finally fixes the echo issues totally, the phone is overall more responsive and stable, headset support has been improved and there are voices who say it even cares more of the barry lifetime!

Thank you Belkin! :)

My Belkin shows software version 1.0.0.13
when invited to update it tells me I have the latest.
How do I force it.
Thanks
Dave

@davehogg:

The automatic update notification and check inside the client of the phone never works.
Just connect the phone and install it using 32bit XP (64 bit won't work) manually.

You may email me if you stil have problems.

i bought this belkin some time ago and always had problems with it. i have updated the latest firmware from the belkin site and now when i switch the phone on it goes no further than the belkin logo that first appears on the screen. then it just stays there. I have powered off and on many times and even made sure the frimware was updated by doing it again. anyone else have this problem and on how to resolve it.

thanks Joseph

@Joseph:

Did you try making a total reset of the phone before you apply the firmware update? This will delete all the settings and restore it to factory reset. If you can't try removing the battery for a day or two, should do the same thing.

Did you use Windows XP 32bit version?

I got a response from Belkin. If your phone hangs on the Belkin screen after loading 1.1.0.22, down load 1.1.0.20, load it to the phone and then upgrade to 1.1.0.22.
It works !!

@Dave: Thank you, I have forwarded the solution to Joseph! :)

Where do I find the 1.1.0.20 firmware. Belkin's site only shows 1.1.0.22. I have the same BELKIN freeze.

Thanks, Roger V.

@Roger V: Ask Joseph who posted above.

Ok, so I love the way this phone looks compared to its competition, so I want to give it a fighting chance before I give up on it.

Unfortunately, I've had zero luck trying to do a firmware upgrade. When I connect using the USB plug, the upgrade software doesn't respond. From what I can tell using the Device Manager, a drive called "Linux File-Stor Gadget USB Device" and a "USB Mass Storage Device" under USB controllers appears, but the drive never seems to initialize.

Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this? I'm getting desperate-can't find anything online and Belkin not helpful. I'm running 32bit XP with all updates installed.

Thanks, Michael

@Michael: I think It isn't the phone fault. You have got a driver mishmash over there. It's detected in new device class ass "USBIO Controlled Devices" and among that as "Skype Phone Device". As it doesn't for you you most likely have or had any other device connected that used similar drivers/hardware ID (maybe the SMC Wifi Skype phone?) and now Windows XP 32bit confuses it. Go to the Device Manager uninstall the device completely, if this doesn't help you will have to do it on another computer.

Actually, I've already tried it on three computers: my home pc, a laptop and my work computer. They're all different brands and ages. The same thing happens every time.

I've uninstalled the drivers several times. I'm wondering if a particular brand of USB memory stick has altered some default drivers?

Or maybe I need to exchange this unit and start over.

Nafcom said...

@mb: Yep, then most likely it's a bad phone. Try to exchange it.

I've had no success connecting to my Zyxel modem here in Spain (Telefonica) In the UK my Belkin 54g is no problem at all.
It does seem a bit hit and miss with public wifi and the inability to connect through a browser as when in a hotel is a real pain.
Time for a little patch from Belkin to facilitate log in through a browser.

Nafcom said...

@davehogg: The problem is not Belkin but Skype on Devices has to implement! I doubt Belkin will release anymore firmware updates read my most recent Belkin Skype wi-fi phone blog post!

About the Zyxel one: Remove the batttery of the phone and try again....

Also check whether there are any firmware udpates for the router (often the latest versions are only available in English for routers).

my belkin skype phone hang after boot is complete. i did not upgrde the firmware. how to reset to original factory status? anyone can help? the reset botton on the buttom do not work.

Nafcom said...

@no. 5:

You can only factory reset the phone over its gui when it's fully started up. The reset button can happen to have no function. So your phone is bricked, and there is no way to get it back to life in this state, I am afraid, at least that I know of.

Did you ask Belkin support? (But I doubt they could help you)

Nafcom said...

@ pixelsrain: You need to use Windows XP32bit.

64bit or/and other windows version can not detect the device correctly and then what you describe happens. if you used xp 32bit and still no luck please try at another computer with xp 32bit.

pixelsrain said...

@Nafcom..... I tried it with 5-6 different win xp-32bit installed Systems. but no luck, phone is still not detected.

Is there any driver which i can install or any other tip to detect skype phone on windows xp-32bit.

........... pixels.........

Nafcom said...

pixelsrain :, no, as the XP 32bit driver is included in the firmware update package. It might simply be damaged.

Belkin support are rubbish. A month fighting their Skype Wifi Phone, 5 failed promises of a call from their support and Skype telling us they are not interested in Belkin problems. Dump them both!

Nafcom said...

@Anonymous Sorry to hear so. What's the problem you are having?

Skype indeed no longer develops and supports the Skype on Devics client!
