Opera 9 Beta 1 is out!
Thursday, April 20, 2006

After a lot of weekly builds, there finally it is; Opera 9 Beta 1!
The most noticeable changes are the widgeds being now accessable at the top at the title bar through a button, the IMAP client still being work in progress, a lower build number, and widgeds getting a seperated task in the taskbar if pinned (one thing you won't loke once you have a lot of them open at the same time :-/ ).

I'm using a build that's later to that. I think it's 8367 or something. There isn't much significant change. Widgets are cool but not cool enough as there are many limitations to a widgets in a browser in my opinion. An example would be that it can't have a photo gallery that's loaded from your computer. Can't really blend your computer's materials with those online.
Mr. Dew:
Despite the fact your Opera's build number is higher, Beta 1 is the latest release. It got a lower build number because of some regression, i.e. they did some steps backwards.
Yeah, I find widgedss wicked anyway! :)
I really like Opera 9. Two of my biggest complaints have been addressed. They were the inability to alt-d to the address bar, and immediately append www. and .com to a domain with CTRL-ENTER.
It has the instant search like Firefox (although not with CTRL-F). The Bit Torrent client is a must have now for any browser, and I can customize the browser any way I want, for example I don't like tabs so I can turn those off.
@Shmanky: I totally agree with you, except that I cannot understand how somebody can't like tabs! :)
